A hearing on AB 2840 is scheduled before the Senate Governance & Finance Committee on June 22.
Even though AB 2840 passed the Assembly, your voice is making a difference. Several members of the Assembly contacted by NAIOP members and supporters either voted against or abstained from voting on the bill. In the end, AB 2840 only passed the Assembly by one vote.
We can stop this bill in the Senate but we need everyone to take action today!
AB 2840 essentially bans industrial development in the Inland Empire, killing jobs and disrupting the supply chain.
AB 2840 prohibits local governments from approving new warehouses and development projects of 100,000 square feet or more if located within an arbitrary 1,000 feet of “sensitive receptors,” an undefined term disguised under environmental protection.
The facts make it clear: AB 2840 will eliminate thousands of local, middle-class, good-paying union jobs and set California back in solving our supply chain challenges.
