You may have read some of the recent news articles surrounding the warehouse and logistics industry in the Inland Empire resulting from the release of a study by environmental organizations.
While these articles represented one perspective, they didn’t tell a complete or accurate story – in fact, they omitted important information, and many ‘recommendations’ lacked justification.
In that regard, below, find a link to an important study recently completed by Ramboll US Consulting that addresses the claims made by the environmental organizations.
The Ramboll study determined that:
- The Report omits previous and ongoing regulatory developments that have achieved substantial reductions in air pollution emissions from warehouse sources and will continue to improve air quality and public health across the South Coast Air Basin.
- The Report fails to acknowledge that siting distance issues have already been resolved by current and near-term regulatory programs.
- The health effect visualization figures in the Report do not take into account the emissions reductions that have been achieved from adopted regulatory programs.
- The report fails to mention that commercial cargo will continue to move on IE freeways and roads, even if warehouses are located elsewhere, and thus overestimates potential benefits for new warehouse development moratoria or delays.
